A Royal Homecoming
On Monday 18 May 2026, we were deeply honoured to welcome His Majesty King Charles III to Voysey House in Chiswick for an official visit to the Sanderson headquarters.
This visit marks a truly significant milestone for us, celebrating Sanderson’s centenary as a Royal Warrant holder — an honour first granted in 1924 and proudly renewed by The King in December 2024.
Sanderson Returns Home
His Majesty was welcomed by our CEO, Lisa Montague, and Chairman, Dame Dianne Thompson, before embarking on a tour of our Grade II* listed home. Originally designed for Arthur Sanderson & Sons by the celebrated Arts & Crafts architect C.F.A. Voysey, this former wallpaper factory has been meticulously restored by owners Dorrington and dMFK Architects.
The redevelopment reflects the building’s original design ethos while significantly enhancing its environmental performance. After a tragic 1928 fire destroyed the adjacent factory, we are thrilled that Sanderson has finally been able to return to its historic Chiswick premises.
Craft, Heritage, and Highgrove
During a tour of our design studio, The King met the Sanderson creative team. A focal point of the visit was the Highgrove by Sanderson collection, created in partnership with the custodian of Highgrove Gardens, The King’s Foundation.
Our Design Director, Claire Vallis, and Sanderson Head of Design, Rebecca Craig, presented new patterns, including The King’s Rose. Launching at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, this design was inspired by the striped-petal rose developed for His Majesty by David Austin® Roses and is adapted from an early 20th-century wallcovering in our archive.
Exploring the Archives
In our showroom, Lisa Montague introduced His Majesty to selections from our vast archive of over 75,000 records, including photographs of the Duke of York’s visit to the Chiswick factory in 1924.
A Historic Unveiling
To commemorate the visit, The King unveiled a plaque behind a curtain crafted from Highgrove Toile.
“It is a tremendous honour to welcome His Majesty to Voysey House. This building represents a return home for Sanderson to the site of its historic craftsmanship. Our 100-year relationship with the Royal Household is a source of great pride, and we are delighted to showcase how our archives and contemporary designs continue to champion British heritage and sustainable craft.” — Lisa Montague, CEO of Sanderson Design Group.
