Our ROyal Warrant

Sanderson is the proud holder of a Royal Warrant for supplying fabrics, paint, and wallcoverings to the Royal Residences.   The Royal Warrant, a prestigious mark of recognition for companies supplying goods or services to the Royal Household, is consistently reviewed for excellence, ensuring recipients uphold standards in their areas of business. Our Royal Warrant reflects our continued dedication to the highest quality standards, craftsmanship, and service, which we are proud to have held for 100 years.

A Century of Royal Recognition 

In 1924, Arthur Bengough Sanderson became the holder of the first Royal Warrant for Sanderson as ‘Purveyor of Wallpapers and Paints’ to HM King George V. At the time, it was said to be the first warrant granted for the supply of these products.  

In 1951, a second Royal Warrant was granted, propelling us forward as a brand of true excellence.  

In 2024 we were honoured to be granted the Royal Warrant by His Majesty King Charles III, a significant milestone marking 100 years since we first received this important recognition of craftsmanship and making.

Our Commitment to Craft 

From environmental initiatives to championing craft and making at every turn, including our work with QEST, a trust of which His Majesty King Charles III is a patron, our Royal Warrant  reflects our continued dedication to our craft and is a testament to our enduring commitment to excellence, at Sanderson and in the wider British craft industry.  

QEST was formed in 1990 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Royal Warrant Holders Association and the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

Our CEO, Lisa Montague, is the Chair of QEST and represents Sanderson as a Grantee of the Warrant.

Excellence in Environmental Standards 

As a Royal Warrant holder, we are committed to excellence in design and the highest environmental standards and practices. Under our Group’s Live Beautiful pledge, we remain committed to reaching carbon net zero. Currently in our sixth year of carbon reduction, certified by Planet Mark, Sanderson, as part of Sanderson Design Group, is on track to reach its target.   

We are incredibly proud to continue supplying fabrics, wallpapers and paints to the Royal Household in the company of our fellow Warrant Holders. This is a prestigious mark of recognition, and we look forward to continuing our work as we enter the next chapter as Warrant Holder to His Majesty King Charles III.
