Sustainability At Sanderson

Conscious Design
We believe in creating enduringly beautiful designs that stand the test of time while protecting the world that inspires much of our work. From the archive to our most inexhaustible source of inspiration, nature itself, we design and make with a thoughtfulness that translates from the meaning behind each pattern to the products we make for modern homes.

Our products’ lifecycle and source of materials matter, and we work hard to ensure that our pieces are enduringly beautiful and sustainable. From producing many of our designs here in the UK at our own British manufacturers, to working with specially selected mills around the world to bring the best quality yarns, including carbon zero coatings on our indoor outdoor products, using VOC-free paint in wallpaper production and using British made fibres from UK mills wherever possible, we are on a journey to making Sanderson a brand that is layered in a legacy that is proudly sustainable.

Our Commitment

From designing and making many of our products in the UK to sourcing alternative fibres for fabric production and working with the best mills to ensure our third parties also meet our standards, our journey to becoming truly sustainable means we are committed to manufacturing with minimal environmental impact.

This commitment extends beyond our factories to our offices’ green initiatives, culminating in our Group’s work with Planet Mark to become net zero.

Planet Mark is a sustainability certification. As a body, Planet Mark empowers businesses to reduce carbon emissions and achieve net zero targets, inspiring them to take meaningful action and generate long-term business value.

Our Creatives

The Sanderson studio is home to incredible creative talent. Our dedicated and creative designers bring nature to the fore through our collections, using our 165-year history as a sound reference point for the quality and integrity of our designs.

From hand-drawn and painted designs, our designers are inspired by nature's endless beauty and abundance. Our cherished archive allows us to draw from history to conceptualise new collections that resonate with today’s homeowners.

We ensure that our products made in the UK in our own factories uphold the standard synonymous with Sanderson. When researching fabrics and fibres, we work closely with our mills to understand the environmental impact of everything we source in line with the quality expected of our brand.

As a company, we continue to pioneer ways to remain environmentally conscious throughout all elements of our production, from design to delivery.
